The geo-community platform Plazes convinces both jury and public at the MobileMonday in Barcelona / Major industry award emphasizes the company’s innovative potential
Munich/Zurich/Berlin, 13th February, 2007 — Plazes, the geo-community platform and worldwide leading web service for mobile social navigation, has won the MobileMonday Global Peer Award 2007 in Barcelona. Founded by Felix Petersen and Stefan Kellner, the company was able to convince the international jury of experts and the public with the service which is available on a web-based and mobile basis.
MobileMonday is a worldwide initiative which originated in Helsinki in the year 2000. The aim of MobileMonday is to discuss mobile trends and developments and to encourage co-operation and exchange between the market’s players. The MobileMonday Global Peer Awards go to branch players and their innovations in three categories. Plazes AG based in Zurich was Switzerland’s entry and managed to win the category “Audience Favourite”.
“We were delighted about our nomination for the Global Peer Award 2007,” says a happy Plazes founder Felix Petersen. “Actually winning the award is fantastic and goes to show just how much potential there is in our development.” Plazes creates a bridge between people’s digital identities and the real places where they spend their time. This makes the link between the user’s digital and real-life activities. Tens of thousands of people are already using the beta version of Plazes to co-ordinate with friends and colleagues.
The prize was awarded to Plazes on 12th February at this year’s 3GSM World Congress which, taking place from 12th – 15th February, is the year’s most important forum for innovators in the mobile industry.
